BEAUTIFUL LIGHT CATCHER OR A SNOWFLAKE COASTER - 2

One look at this cute little snowflake like pattern, and I knew I had to make it.  Yesterday I shared another pattern for a light catcher or a coaster .. and I think that this too will be a lovely addition to a side table as a tiny coaster, or it can be used as a hanging ornament as well.  Throw in a few crystals or beads and watch it catch the light as you hang this off your window.  Add in a few bells of the bottom and it will make a cute tingling sound as it catches the breeze too.

So many ideas… One small ornament… don’t you agree that you just must make this too?

Thank you for joining me.

Materials usedToday I have used our lovely Indian Red Rose metallic cotton yarn with a 1.3 mm crochet hook
You also need  fabric glue ; embroidery needle ; beads ; pearls ; a ring or bangle

In general : Use any yarn with a suitable hook to make these projects. The finer the yarn, the tinier the project.
For Indians : You could use Anchor , Red ros or unbranded knitting cotton as well
General yarn info : The yarn used today is not specific to this pattern.
You can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this project to any size.

International yarns :  Among the international yarns I have used in this thickness, I’d suggest Aunt Lydia Cotton 10, Aunt Lydia Bamboo-Viscose 10, DMC Petra, Sullivans knitting cotton (Australia), Milford Soft, Hilaza Rustica Eclat , Alize cotton yarn and Alize bamboo yarn.

Instructions using U.S terminology
Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.
Please check the top of this blog for easy video tutorials on all stitches used in today's pattern.  For your convenience there video tutorials through the blog too
Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.
In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.
This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

If you decide to make this a window ornament or a light catcher, you may need to attach on a few crystals or beads.

So you could attach them all around the edges, in which case you need to add 30 beads onto your thread before you start.

If you decide to throw in a few beads in the picots along the centre as well, you need to add 6 more beads.

How to add beads : Check this video at https://youtu.be/EcpgMgBox8I

How to work with beads in crochet : Check out this video at https://youtu.be/yanbAnF_pr0

So here’s what I suggest.. work one little motif and see how you like it with the suggestions given so far, and then you can spatter on more beads for the next and following creations.

Right then, get your little beads on if you’re using them, and let’s get started.

I am using a metallic yarn, which has its own sparkle, so am not adding any beads for this creation.

Please remember that if you are making a coaster with this, then a rounded bead will not sit flat (or allow anything to sit flat) on the table.  It will serve a decorative purpose but you cannot use it as a base for anything else – i.e you cannot place a plate or cup on it, as the beads will not allow the object to sit flat.
