REVERSIBLE DIAGONAL SPECTACLE CASE

This is a super quick project for a super neat , totally reversible spectacle case. I found this really lovely pattern for a diagonal dishcloth, which I just loved… and I thought that this would make a really neat coin purse or spectacle case as well.

As the pattern works diagonally, and we work in back loops only for the whole pattern, it is exactly the same back and front – which makes it beautiful and reversible.

Materials used : Today I have used ~ about one cone of our lovely Indian polyester purse yarn with a 3.5 mm crochet hook ;

This yarn is not specific for this pattern. Use any yarn with a suitable hook to make today's creation.

For Indians : You could use Anchor knitting cotton as well

Size made : 3.25” width x 6.5 length

Difficulty level : Easy Skill level

Please note that I start all my rows with a ch 1, turning chain for ease.

Please read through all my notes before you pick up your hook, so you know just where we're heading in our pattern.

In my patterns I work with the principle of stitch count and body measurement.

This means that you need to work the stitch count in pattern, till you get the measurement (length and/or width) that you need for your project.

For this cute little coin purse, I’ve used the Diagonal Dishcloth pattern by Ananda Judkins at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/diagonal-dishcloth-3

This pattern works from one corner, increasing one stitch on each side till you have a neat square and you have diagonals running across, which looks super fantastic.

I made the pattern exactly as suggested by the designer and got a project of 6.5” x 6.5” square, which when folded gives me a length of 6.5” x a width of 3.25”.

If you decide you want a longer pencil case or spectacle case, I suggest you work more rows than suggested by the designer (especially if you too are using the same Indian yarn I have), and that will increase the size of the square, so will give you a longer & wider rectangle when folded.

So go on ahead to the link and make the square first, and then all I did was fold the square over and join two of the sides.

Here are a few different ideas for joining

1. You can join one long and one short side, and you get a case with an opening on the shorter side

2. You can join both the smaller sides, and then attach on a zipper along the longer edge, and ta da! You can get a pencil case or a spectacle case, with a larger opening.

So with this one blog, you can make a dishcloth or washcloth, and you can also make a set of cases. Isn’t that just neat?
