BEAUTIFUL CHEVRON CRADLE COVER

Today we’re working on an afghan that works with the famous Chevron stitch and uses two simple different stitches, cleverly used to give this brilliant pattern.

Chevrons have an advanced skill level.  The beauty of the chevron pattern is usually shown out better with change(s) of colour – so at least one change of colour is advisable.

Materials used : Today I’ve used ~ 1 kg of our local Indian Oswal Cashmilon 4-ply acrylic with a 4 mm crochet hook
For Non-Indians : I’d say you can use any yarn with a suitable hook to make this lovely project.

Once I was done, I thought it would look lovely with a small border, so this is what I did.

After completing the 6-day-kid-blanket, I ran a round of sc all around, ensuring I had sc in
multiples of 4 on each side.  Remember you need to work 3 sc per corner to get it nice and flat.

Border :

Using the chart below, I worked the border.
We will us  2 different “V”-sts here.
Our Small V-St is (dc ; ch 2, dc) all in the same st or ch-sp
Our Large V-St is a combination of a fpdc worked over the Small V-st from the earlier round, and then a set of sts worked in the ch-2 sp of the Small V-st.  This is a total of 8 sts – 2 fpdc + 6 dc.
So our Large V-St is (fpdc in the 1st leg of the Small V-st ; 3 dc ; ch 1, 3 dc ; fpdc in the 2nd leg of the Small V-st) all in the same st or ch-sp

Starting at the 1st centre sc at one corner, work the pattern.

Round 1 : Small V-St in the 1st sc ;
(sk next 3 sc, Small V-St in the next sc) ;
*rep (to) till the 1st corner sc ; [Small V-St in the same corner sc] ; rep [to] once* ; rep *to* all around ; rep [to] 2 times in the 1st corner sc ; and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Round 2 : sl-st into the 1st Small V-St ch-sp , Large V-st over and in the same Small V-St ch-sp ;
(Large V-st over and in the same Small V-St ch-sp) ;
*rep (to) till the 1st corner sc ; [Small V-St in the same corner sc] ; rep [to] once* ; rep *to* all around ; rep [to] 2 times in the 1st corner sc ; and join with a sl-st to the 1st st.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Block as per yarn instructions.  Show off on social media, and remember to tag me. Cheers.
