TWO BEANIES FOR BOYS / MEN
TWO BEANIES FOR BOYS / MEN
( #Blogaday 29/365 )
As you can see, early in the year I’ve made quite a few pieces of head wear – beanies in particular.
These beanies are for two wonderful men in my family.
Thank you for joining me as we work on this lovely free pattern together.
Materials used : Today I’ve used our lovely Indian Oswal Cashmilon 4-ply yarn with a 4 mm crochet
Abbreviations used :
fsc : Foundation single crochet dc : Double crochet
ch : chain ch-sp : chain space
sp : space rep : Repeat
Stitches used :
Magic circle : To refresh your skill, please view this easy video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLuSVyKvoUg
Chainless dc start : Instead of the usual start with ch 2 or ch 3, I’d like to introduce this lovely new way of starting a dc row. Do take a look at this self-explanatory super video http://www.mooglyblog.com/chainless-starting-double-crochet/
In case you are unhappy with this start, or do not like it, do continue with the usual ch-2 or ch-3 start. However, all instructions will be given assuming that you are using the chainless dc start.
Here is a sizing chart for general head sizing : https://in.pinterest.com/pin/470063279837764548/
How to join the two ends of your work : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUGb9pIcsXE
Instructions : (Using U.S terminology)
I recently worked on a simple beanie with a plain top (from crown down) and then a lovely base bit full of post stitches from http://snappy-tots.com/freebie-jakes-beanie/.
This pattern gives head size and when to stop pattern etc.. so please check it out and this is the really cute inspirational picture that got me started.
As I’ve told you before, I love post stitch patterns, so I’m going to use this same pattern, with a few small tweaks.
I’m giving general instructions for this cap. Follow the instructions till you reach the size needed for your cap. There is a head size chart given above.
If you decide to work my pattern below, please leave about 2” from the full length needed, and our border will be worked in that extra 2”.
reverse single crochet (or crab stitch) to end up your beanie, check https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE-ObvYb_Pk
Have fun creating something beautiful and hope the recipient loves it too.

I love art and craft - and am grateful for this hobby that keeps me busy and out of 'mischief'.
We (as a family) are also staunch protectors of stray animals and will continue to do our bit to make this a safe world for them.
We strongly believe in R-R-R and several of my projects will show this.
